Gallipoli Classes Guide: All 10 Roles & Starter Picks
Gallipoli classes explained: compare all ten roles, understand kits and squad slots, choose a starting role, and learn how weapon perks and Prestige work.
Gallipoli has ten classes, each focused on a different battlefield job. Our starting recommendation is Rifleman for learning objectives and weapon handling, or Ammo Bearer if you prefer a support task alongside your squad. Those are learning recommendations, not a measured class tier list. Your squad's missing role can matter more than an individual preference.
All Ten Gallipoli Classes
The roles below follow BlackMill Games' launch overview. Equipment availability depends on faction and kit.
- Officer: squad leadership, buffs, and off-map support.
- Rifleman: rifle combat and objective pressure.
- Ammo Bearer: resupply allies directly or with ammunition crates.
- Engineer: construct defenses or sabotage enemy equipment.
- Light Machine Gunner: mobile automatic fire; available to the British Empire.
- Heavy Machine Gunner: build and operate static machine-gun positions.
- Bomber: grenade-focused equipment with a lighter combat load.
- Spotter: locate threats with binoculars and flares.
- Sniper: engage distant targets using high-magnification optics.
- Stretcher Bearer: heal teammates and assist downed allies efficiently.
Which Class Should You Try First?
Use a specific learning goal for your first round:
- Learn the battlefield: try Rifleman. Concentrate on recognizing the active objective, finding your squad, and arriving with a ready weapon.
- Help while learning routes: try Ammo Bearer. Watch where teammates repeatedly stop to fight and learn when they need resupply.
- Learn a support position: try Stretcher Bearer. Pay attention to which approaches let you reach allies without exposing yourself to the same fire.
- Learn coordination: try Officer after you recognize objective locations. Have a reason for each support call and communicate where the squad is going.
These are editorial suggestions based on the roles above. They are not claims that one class earns more experience or wins more matches. A productive trial is one in which you can explain what your role contributed. If you cannot yet identify the objective you are helping, use the Gallipoli beginner guide before chasing a specialized loadout.
What Is the Difference Between a Class and a Kit?
The official class devblog describes two kits per class. A kit changes the specialization, equipment, and weapon choices within that class. Read its task, load, and ammunition information before deploying. Choosing Engineer, for example, does not mean every Engineer kit is designed to do the same job.
For your first comparison, keep the class the same and change only the kit. Ask whether its listed task fits your next objective, whether you understand its equipment, and whether you actually use that equipment during the round. This makes the difference easier to notice than changing your class, weapon, and play style at once.
Why Is a Class Slot Unavailable?
Having a class unlocked does not guarantee an open slot in your current squad. The squad devblog distinguishes Infantry, Scouting, Support, Assault, and Machine Gun squads. Their focus affects bonus class slots and the Officer's call-ins. Support squads favor ammunition and medical roles, for example, while Scouting emphasizes reconnaissance.
Check the displayed squad slots and faction before assuming you need to level up. Light Machine Gunner is the roster's stated British-only exception. Squad selection, class access, and progression solve different questions.
Levels, Weapon Perks, and Prestige
BlackMill's progression devblog says the available classes, weapons, and tools can be used immediately. Class experience improves class perks and unlocks cosmetics; weapon experience develops weapon perks.
At level 20, a class or weapon can Prestige, with the class challenge also required for classes. This resets its level and perks and increases the experience needed to level again, in exchange for recognition of your progression. Read the confirmation in-game before using it. The devblog's example percentages were published before release; the current game should be your reference for exact balance values.
